This meditation is very helpful for when we are feeling anxious, upset, feeling like yelling, screaming, when you simply don’t know what to do. (With our world today, who doesn’t feel like this a lot?)
Yogi Bhajan, the father of Kundalini Yoga, gave this tool and told us:
“When out of focus or emotional, attention should be given to the body’s water balance and breath rate. Humans are approximately 70% water, and behaviour depends on our relationship to water, earth, air and ether. Breath represents the air and ether. Normally we breathe 15x/minute. When we are able to slow the breath to only 4 breaths a minute, we have indirect control over our minds, and it eliminates obnoxious behavior, promoting a calm mind regardless of the state of affairs. After 2-3 min of this exercise, thoughts will be there, but one does not feel them. This balances the functional brain. “
